THE LAGOS PATRIOTS
PRESS STATEMENT – Monday 4th March 2019
‘O TO GEE LAGOS’ IS NOTHING BUT A SEED OF DISCORD – LAGOS PATRIOTS
The Lagos Patriots (TLP), a youth group in Lagos State has described the ‘O TO GE LAGOS’ movement as a piracy of concept, fraudulent, unintelligent and deliberate attempt to sow seed of discord in a state that has consistently maintained its peace and harmony on all fronts.
The group berated the organisers of O TO GE LAGOS as few individuals that are deficient of originality and clear idea over their purpose and mission. TLP said it is childish and unintelligent to marry a concept run in kwara with a movement name from Paris to cause mischief in Lagos, with their unconvincing arguments and ranting.
The group said rather than thanking Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his magnanimity, courage and brilliance, some deceptive ingrates have resulted to castigating the living icon and making fruitless attempt to run him down.
The group said “Asiwaju saved Nigeria from becoming a one party State; he salvaged entire Yoruba race from being caged by the PDP cabals from 1999 through 2007; he has nurtured great successors; he has always aligned himself to the masses to the extent of jettisoning his personal ambitions for the progress of the people several times; he brought about the modern Lagos we see today in his 8 years as Governor; he has remained a progressive and visionary leader, not just politician, among other achievements. Where were the ORANGE MOVEMENT apostles and their patrons while Bola Tinubu was salvaging Lagos and labouring hard for all accomplishments he is known with today?”.
TLP however challenged the conveners of O TO GEE LAGOS to step forward for a public debate over LAGOS FREEDOM SUBJECT rather than propelling clandestine and timid front for their cheap project. The TLP said Lagosians are not interested in undue sentiments but issues, and as long as the PDP candidate has no convincing manifestos for governing Lagos, Lagosians are not ready to entrust the state’s exalted seat to a sheer wishful thinker.
The group then called on Lagosians to ensure that Lagos State maintains status quo synergy and harmony with the government at the federal, under same party umbrella, to sustain the state’s steady developments and progress. It said this can only be achieved by voting APC gubernatorial candidate Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and all candidates of the party for State House of Assembly so as to enhance executive and legislative harmony that guarantees progress of the people.
In conclusion, TLP appealed to Lagosians to ignore any individual or group attempting to heat up the polity through personal aggressions rather than build political strength for a fair and democratic challenge at the poll.
“Lagos is known as land of peace; in Lagos, all ethnic groups have lived together peacefully and no tribe should fall for any cheap inducements against the progressive family in the state. The socio-political and economic freedom enjoyed by all Lagosians have been proven by limitless examples of what people have become in the state without any ethnic, religious or tribal barriers holding them back from achieving their legitimate dreams”, TLP concluded.
