Ondo State is gearing up for a crucial transition into a new chapter in its journey of statehood. As the tenure of the incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu gradually winds down, it is critical to have a successor who is cast in a progressive mould and one from the youth Constituency. This informed the decision of Dr. Victor Ayodeji Oritedi to join the 2024 Ondo governorship race.

Dr. Victor Oritedi, a business development expert, an agribusiness professional, a banker, an astute investor and a mentor to young people is prepared to take Ondo State through the great leap of massive development that the populace earnestly yearns for. He has extensively formulated a Strategic Development Master Plan for Ondo that span across many sectors.

Dr. Victor Ayodeji Oritedi in a space of one year has left no one in doubt of his capacity to vie successfully for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State.

His grassroot approach, which has generated massive following for him and made his campaign slogan of Ayò tí dé an anthem across the APC fold, is sending shivers to his opponents and potential opponents. He has effectively become the frontrunner in an increasingly crowded field of aspirants. 

Amb. Oritedi's increasing momentum in the Ondo governorship race is simply down to the overwhelming desire of Ondo people to birth a generational shift in governance. He is a melting point between the old and the young, between the middle class and the peasants, the educated and the uneducated and appeals to civil servants, traders, farmers, artisans, corporate players and even progressive-minded politicians. This is because Dr. Victor Ayodeji has transverse both the public and private sectors and is at home with players in both worlds.

Ondo people are also showing greater optimism and hope in the development masterplan of Dr. Victor Ayodeji Oritedi because of its comprehensiveness and practicality. He has indicated to the people that he is prepared for the arduous task of administering a massive state as Ondo with a potential of becoming the state with the second largest GDP in Nigeria after Lagos under a committed and competent leadership.

As the clock ticks towards the commencement of the APC primary season, the image of Dr. Victor Ayodeji Oritedi is surely looming large across the grassroot base of Ondo APC. The APC faithfuls are conscious of the fact that the party needs to present a sellable Governorship candidate if the party is to retain Alagbaka House. At the moment, there is no more sellable candidate in Ondo APC with a strong momentum in his strides than the charismatic Dr. Victor Ayodeji Oritedi.
